Pausing By An Old Prof’s Class

Whose class this is I think I know
He is still in his office though
And will not see me stopping here
To watch his students come and go.
My friend here with me thinks it queer
That I have an interest here
Where students sit and wait to take
The exact same class I took last year.
To ask me if there’s some mistake
She gives my hanging arm a shake.
The only other feel’s the heave
Of sighing lungs and eyes awaked.

This class is such a sweet reprieve
Present spare my dangling sleeve
A little while before I leave
A little while before I leave.
